On the occasion of the 74th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day and the 2nd anniversary of the Vietnam-Myanmar Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership, the Vietnam Embassy in cooperation with the Myanmar Union Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture organized a cultural exchange program themed "Viet Nam - Myanmar: Traditional and modern colors" on September 28, 2019, at Melia Hotel Yangon.

The event was attended by Myanmar's Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko, Union Minister for Construction U Han Zaw, Chief Minister of Yangon Region Government U Phyo Min Thein, Deputy Minister for Defence U Myint Nwe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs U Soe Han, other officials representating Myanmar ministries, branches; Myanmar businesses, partners and friends; Ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations; representatives of the Vietnamese businesses and community in Myanmar and a great number of Myanmar audience.
In her opening remarks, Ambassador Luan Thuy Duong said that the similarities in traditions and culture, customs and beliefs between Viet Nam and Myanmar laid a solid foundation for the longtime and deep-rooted friendship between the two countries.
Ambassador stated that culture makes people understand each other better and help them to overcome all barriers and gain more trust. "The cultural exchange was an effort to promote cultural cooperation and to enhance people-to-people relations between the two countries, thereby contributing to strengthening the Comprehensive Cooperation Partnership and realizing the 2017-2020 cultural cooperation program signed by the leaders of the countries", said Ambassador.

According to Ambassador, the cultural exchange program introduced the special 20 performances by more than 50 Myanmar artists, 20 Vietnamese artists from cultural, music and arts universities and academies of the both countries, a group of 9 singers from the Vietnamese Community in Yangon, and models for fashion show (Vietnamese Ao dai and Myanmar longyi). As almost artists are very young, "the message we would like to emphasize is that: the young generations take key role to foster the partnership between Viet Nam and Myanmar and make this partnership last for long", said Ambassador.
She also said that through the amazing performances, audience will see the sparkling colors of the Vietnamese and Myanmar traditional and modern culture.
In his welcoming speech, Myanmar Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko stated that the activities of Vietnam Cultural Week in Myanmar highlights traditional and modern cultural values of Viet Nam and Myanmar, being one of the most meaningful events to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries by highlighting people-to-people exchanges which is the bedrock of our bilateral relations.
Union Minister also expessed his belief that the existing friendship between Viet Nam and Myanmar will be further developed through such kind of programmes by experiencing the unique cultural values of our two countries.

Vietnam Cultural Week in Myanmar with series of special vents is a practical implementation of the framework of Vietnam-Myanmar Comprehensive Cooperativen Partnership and the Cultural Cooperation Program between the two countries from 2017-2020, helping promote the image of the country and people of Viet Nam in Myanmar, thereby enhancing the cooperation in culture and tourism as well as the people-to-people exchanges between VietNam and Myanmar./.
